History
TurbineAero was founded in 1977 known then as Tiernay Manufacturing and added repair and overhaul capabilities in 1978.
We began overhauling environmental control units for Cobra Helicopters for the US Army. Our first APU was a Solar Titian Model T62T-39. Subsequently, the GTCP85 model was added which propelled our growth in both the commercial and military market segments.
In the 1980’s our name changed to Tiernay Turbines with the development of Tiernay’s TT10 APU which were sold to the US military. In 1988 Alco Standard purchased the overhaul portion of the business and named it Triumph Air Repair and later became part of Triumph Group in 1993.
With more 45 years in the aviation maintenance repair and overhaul business, TurbineAero Air Repair has repaired over 10,000 APU’s and 200,000 accessories. TurbineAero’s facility has production space in excess of 65,000 square feet and continues to add new APU product lines and services to support our customers.
The First APU the Solar Titian was used by the small commuter based airlines, corporate customers and helicopters. Our First GTCP85 customer Wein Air Alaska was added in the early 80’s. This was followed by adding the US Navy and Air Force C9 program. This helped our 85 program grow substantially. In 1993 we added the 331-200ER/250 Series APU’s.
The Company became a Factory Service Center for the GTCP 660 product line in October of 2000 and the TSCP700 in October of 2001.
The Company provided Line Maintenance Training to the Military and Commercial Customers for the 85,331 and 700 APU Models. Training was conducted both on site at TurbineAero or at the customer’s location.
We also provided on site Borescope Inspections and APU Repair. Other units serviced by TurbineAero include: APS 3200, PW901, Honeywell 331-350, 331-500, 131-9B/9A, 331-200/250P and the Military 331-250G.
